interactive Motion Sound System
iMSS
The Interactive Motion Sound System (iMSS) is a software suite designed for instrumental scenography. It enables the dynamic definition of interaction zones based on movement captured by one or more cameras, allowing for real-time interaction with sound, video, lighting, and any other controllable elements. What makes iMSS unique is that it draws upon the LiSiLoG team’s extensive experience with this type of technology to distill its essentials, master its constraints, and make it as accessible as possible. There is no need to learn specific gestures; everything relies on one’s presence and the quality of movement in resonance with the system. iMSS offers a way to introduce instrumental constraints without compromising previously acquired performance skills. Anyone can perform with this system: instrumentalists, dancers, actors, and circus artists—whether amateur or professional.
The “Light Wall System” (LWS) is an educational tool ideal for an introduction to instrumental scenography, whereas iMSS offers greater capabilities; it is compatible with Ableton Live via Max4Live and supports the wide range of sensors developed by LiSiLoG. LWS is available to those who have completed an introductory session or workshop with LiSiLoG, while iMSS is linked to specific productions and custom-tailored by LiSiLoG.
The required hardware is standard, inexpensive, and highly unobtrusive.
One cannot hide behind the technology, as it is not visually apparent. iMSS allows for the composition of parameter changes much like a score comprising both discrete and continuous events.
Workshop
Publics :
- Choreographers, Dancers, Musicians, Actors, Directors, Circacians…
Goals :
Experimentation and creation of game modes, organic sound/movement links through choreographic and musical proposals.
This system is based on capturing movement via cameras allowing the performer to evolve freely. The movements are analyzed in real time and interact with sound devices. iMSS is a modular, multi-camera tool, oriented for creation via specific developments related to the project.
